The 26th Annual
Hoboken Artists Studio Tour
Sunday Oct. 21st• noon to 6pm |
Free Self-Guided Walking Tour of Artists Studios & Galleries Featuring work by over 100 local artists
Tour Maps will be available at City hall in Hoboken on the day of the Tour or as an insert in the Hoboken Reporter the week before the Tour
We have designed the
tour so that you can walk from one studio or take the free
shuttle buses, which will be conveniently stopping at 6
or 7 locations around the mile-square city, including City
Hall, the PATH station, the Neumann Leather Building, Hoboken
Historical Museum and 720 Monroe Street Arts Center. Tour
maps and guides will be available on the day of the tour
at City Hall, 94 Washington St. between 11:00 AM and 6:00
PM. or pick one up in advance as an insert in the Hoboken
Reporter or Hudson Current Newspapers the week before.
As diverse as the art itself, the tour’s popularity
draws artists from far beyond the banks of Hoboken. From
the shores of international waters to our own metropolitan
area, you will find over 100 artists and art forms representing
an exciting variety of media and design. Visitors will have
a chance to meet the artists, photographers, sculptors and
artisans in their own studios, where they can witness the
creative process at work.
Media ranges from classical figurative realism and abstract
expressionism to welded steel sculptures and photographic
computer generated mandalas; oil paintings, watercolors
and acylics; handcrafted jewelry,
pottery, quilts and paintings on silk. Some of the featured
artists this year include: Tim Daly (lyrical realistic landscapes),
Sissi Siska (silk painter), Carlos Page (metal sculture
& furniture), Frank Hanavan (acrylic painter - best
known for beautiful landscapes of Hoboken) and many more.
Many of Hoboken's outdoor cafes & multi-cultural restaurants,
where the work of local artists will be featured on their
walls, will be offering brunch, lunch & dinner specials
throughout the day. Some establishments will even be offering
live performances throughout the day.
This exhibit as well as The Hoboken Artists Studio Tour
is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State
Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency
of the National Endowment for the the Arts, administered
by the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs/Tourism
Development and by the County of Hudson, Thomas A. DeGise,
County Executive, and the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
The Hoboken Artists' Studio Tour offers something for everyone,
so don’t forget to bring your checkbook; most of the
art will be available for purchase. And if you donÕt
see exactly what you want, you can place a special order
directly with the artist.
We recommend public transportation. Hoboken is accessible
by PATH, NJ Transit Trains & Buses, Hudson Bergen Lightrail
and NY Waterway Ferries.
