which was held at the NJPAC in Newark

policy-makers and governmental leaders,
with the opportunity to explore the
future of urban growth and the creation
of vibrant, sustainable urban communities
throughout New Jersey. |

11th Memorial
Service

Mayor
David Roberts along with City Council,
and the Hoboken Clergy Coalition,
spoke at yesterday's 9/11 Interfaith
Memorial Service at Pier A
Park to honor and remember those
who died on that fateful day. Hoboken
lost more people than any other
zip code in the country. The Memorial
honored the 57 Hoboken victims.

Spectacular
World War II Memorial Is Complete

The
magnificent new World War II Memorial
located nearby Sinatra Park is completed.
The veteran members of the World War
II Committee from American Legion
Post 107 are currently working in
conjunction with Mayor Roberts and
the City of Hoboken to plan for the
historic opening of the Memorial.

Yankee
Ferry docks in Hoboken

Mayor
David Roberts (2 nd to the left) took
part in a tour given by Richard and
Victoria MacKenzie-Childs of the Yankee
Ferry at 12 th and Sinatra Drive along
with the City Clerk James Farina and
Coordinator of Cultural Affairs Geri
Fallo. The boat was built in 1907
and shuttled people to the Statue
of Liberty and new immigrants from
Ellis Island to Manhattan. It has
been restored over a period of time
and is one of the oldest ferries today
to be docked on the Hudson River.

Hoboken
Boathouse Opens

Mayor
Roberts along with members of the
City Council officially opened up
the Hoboken Boathouse at Maxwell Place
Park beach. By opening the boathouse,
the City of Hoboken will be welcoming
residents and visitors to the community
to a series of kayaking programs at
the site. The Hoboken Community Boathouse
Alliance will assist the City's recreation
department in offering kayaking opportunities.
“The opening of the Hoboken Boathouse
will coincide with the many cultural
and recreation programs that already
being enjoyed by our residents free
of charge,” said Mayor Roberts. |

Roberts & Wife Honored at Symposia
Bookstore

The
Hoboken Symposia Bookstore took a
moment on the 4 th Anniversary of
the popular cultural center's opening
at 510 Washington Street to honor
Mayor David Roberts and his wife,
Anna. The non-profit bookstore has
provided classes, cultural events
and other opportunities for thousands
of children and adults to gather in
the community. “David and Anna have
saved us almost $150,000 by underwriting
our rent right in the heart of Hoboken
,” said Cornel Rusu, Symposia's owner
and manager. “The Roberts family is
truly a patron of the arts and we
consider them real friends at Symposia.”

City
of Hoboken residents that own a Hoboken
Residential Parking permit have been
requested by the New Jersey Motor
Vehicles Commission (NJMVC) to remove
their Permit Decal from the front
of their windshield to the rear of
their vehicles to balance the many
important issues involving the public
at large.

Graduation Takes Place

The
class of 2008 graduated from Hoboken
High School on Friday, June 20th at
a commencement ceremony held at J.
F. Kennedy Stadium. Speakers included
Mayor David Roberts and Assemblyman
Ruben Ramos, as well as Valedictorian
Amanda Morales and Salutatorian
Justin Hislop. |
